Last updated: June 2025
TepuyTech ("we," "our," or "us") built the Scanly app as a free application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the app.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account.
- Camera and storage access. The app requests access to your device camera and photo library solely to capture and store document scans. We do not transmit your images to our servers unless you explicitly use a cloud-sync feature.
- Usage data. We collect anonymized data about how you interact with the app (screens visited, features used, crash reports) to improve the product.
- Device information. We may collect device identifiers, operating system version, and language settings.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Scanly app.
- Personalize your experience and remember your preferences.
- Analyze usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs.
- Communicate with you about updates or support requests.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Advertising
Scanly uses Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect and use data about your device and location to serve personalized ads. This data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads).
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
The app integrates the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:
- Firebase (Google): Analytics and crash reporting — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Sign-In: Authentication — policies.google.com/privacy
- Google AdMob: Advertising — policies.google.com/privacy
5. Data Storage and Security
Document scans are stored locally on your device by default. If cloud backup is enabled, your data is stored on secure servers in compliance with industry-standard security practices. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service or fulfill the purposes described in this policy. You may delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app's settings.
7. Children's Privacy
Scanly is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
- Data portability.
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@tepuytech.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy in the app or on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of Scanly after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
